Crafting Your Artist Resume, Artist Bio and Artist Statement

Duration: 90 minutes

As photographers, we express ourselves visually through our photographs and may shrivel up at the thought of expressing ourselves through writing – especially writing about our work. There may come a time, however, where you don’t have a choice because a resume and/or artist statement may be required for an exhibition, to apply for admission into a visual arts program, to apply for a teaching position, to apply for a grant or some other reason.

Writing your photographer’s resume and artist statement does not have to be a painful process. In this workshop, you will learn:

  • What a photography resume, artist statement and biography is and why they are necessary
  • What to include on your photography resume, artist statement and biography
  • How to compose your photography resume, artist statement and biography
  • Why each will evolve over time
  • Tips for building up your photography resume

Requirements: Please bring pen and paper for notes. A handout will also be provided.
